Media Center Access

Before and After School: No Pass Required.
Periods 1—7: A Pass from a teacher is required.
Lunch: Passes available from Administrator in lunchroom.
Sign In: ALL STUDENTS MUST SIGN IN AT THE DESK during the school day.
ID Cards: Sign up for replacement ID's in the media center. Cost: $3.00.

Accelerated Reader List

Conway Middle School uses the Accelerated Reader computer program in all 6th grade reading classes and other selected classes. A listing of CMS quizzes can be found by clicking here.

Media Center Behavior

The Media Center is a place to study, work on research, and enjoy recreational reading. Students who insist upon misbehaving will be dealt with according to the Student Code of Conduct and may be denied Media Center privileges for a period of time.

Finding Materials

Destiny is the On-Line Card Catalog for materials in the Media Center. Materials may be searched by SUBJECT, AUTHOR, TITLE, or KEYWORD.

Reference Books: Almanacs, atlases, dictionaries, encyclopedias, and specialized reference materials are identified by the letter “R” above the call number and are located in the Reference Section.

General Location of Material

Nonfiction materials are arranged according to the Dewey Decimal System of Classification. Fiction materials are arranged alphabetically by author. Media Center Staff and Student Assistants will be happy to assist you in locating materials.

Sunshine State Young Reader's Award Books

Sunshine State Young Reader’s Award books for the year are placed in a special section of the Media Center. We encourage you to read these books that have been selected by a committee of 100 educators, GREAT BOOKS!

Computers in the Media Center

Media Center Computers are for students to use for research, i.e. encyclopedias, Internet* and word processing. *Internet Use Agreement Form must be on file with Team Teachers.

Circulation Procedures

Books: You may check out two items at a time. Most books are checked out for a two-week period. If you don't finish a book, just renew it.

Reference Books: Most reference materials may be checked out for one day.

Overdue Materials and Fines: All materials turned in after the due date will be charged a five cents (5 ¢ ) fine per item each school day. We do not charge a fine for weekends, holidays, or excused absences.

Lost or Damaged Materials: Lost materials or those damaged beyond reasonable repair, it must be paid for at the purchase price.

Before You Move: If you move to another school, your library account is transferred, including textbooks that are checked out to you. See Ms. Vittoria before you move to help clear your account.
