Conway Community Newsletter

September 4, 2026
The school Principal

Greetings Conway Community and Families,

Wishing all our students, staff, and families a restful and relaxing three-day weekend! We hope you take time to recharge and enjoy the long Labor Day break.
Please keep the following updates in mind for the upcoming week:
  • Micromobility Device Policy Update: Motorized micromobility devices (such as e-scooters and e-bikes) will no longer be permitted on campus starting September 8th. Please ensure alternate transportation arrangements are made for affected students by this date.
  • Fall Book Fair (Sept 8–11): Our annual Book Fair is taking place next week in the Media Center! We hope to see as many students as possible drop by to pick out their favorite books.
  • Parent Volunteers Needed: We need parent volunteers to help make the Book Fair a success. If you are available to lend a hand during school hours, please contact the main office or reach out through our parent portal. Please make sure you are an approved OCPS ADDitions volunteer before signing up.
Thank you so much for your continued partnership and support of our school community!

The Book Fair is Coming!

The Book Fair runs September 8th through September 11th, and shopping is easier than ever with Scholastic eWallet! Students can shop cash-free; eWallets now remain active year to year; funds can be transferred between children, and family and friends can contribute to your child's account.

You can also support Share the Fair, a giving program that helps students at our school purchase books when they may need extra assistance. Every contribution helps ensure that no child leaves the Book Fair empty-handed and gives all students the opportunity to discover the joy of reading.

Would you like to volunteer at the Book Fair? We would love your help! Please make sure you are an approved OCPS ADDitions volunteer before signing up. You can complete the approval process here:

📢 Conway Middle School Weather Delay Procedures

🌧️ Weather Delay Guidelines

1. Identification Required for Early Pick-Up
If you are picking up your student during a weather delay, please bring a valid photo ID and check in at the front office. This is for the safety and accountability of all students.

2. Communication via ParentSquare
Any delay in dismissal due to weather will be communicated promptly through ParentSquare. Please ensure your contact information is up to date and notifications are enabled.

3. Plan Ahead for Light Rain
While we will hold students indoors during severe weather (heavy rain, thunder, lightning, etc.), students may be dismissed during light rain.
👉 We strongly recommend that all walkers carry an umbrella to stay dry and safe during light rain conditions.

4. Patience is Key
Weather delays can be unpredictable. We ask for your patience and understanding as we prioritize student safety and follow district protocols.

Student Spotlight: Elijah Originals

Talent is thriving at Conway Middle School! Mrs. Martinez and Mrs. Farber are proud to own custom shirts from Elijah Originals, created by our talented student, Elijah Vasquez. Elijah designed and made these shirts himself, and we absolutely love them! We are always excited to celebrate the creativity and hard work of our students. Great job, Elijah, and thank you for sharing your talent with us!

Athletics & Activities

Our Conway Middle School soccer teams competed yesterday and showed great determination on the field. The Girls Soccer Team battled hard but fell 2-0, while the Boys Soccer Team came up just short in a closely contested 1-0 match.
Every game is an opportunity to grow, and our athletes rose to the challenge with grit and determination. Their effort, teamwork, and school spirit were on full display, and we cannot wait to see them continue to build on their successes this season.
